With recent changes in regulations the Fire Risk Assessment consultancy market will soon be full of companies employing people with different levels of skill and knowledge in the art of performing a quality assessment. It will still be the employers, who are ultimately responsible for any fire risk assessment, and therefore they need to ensure that their choice of consultant is a good one.

A good risk assessment will help an employer identify the fire hazards and risk in an organisation. This assessment is not a 'one off' process, and will need to be reviewed and changes made where and when necessary especially when a fire risk or hazard may have changed due to alterations to a buildings layout or an increase in the number of employees, etc. Often small businesses with small premises, the fire risk assessment will be a relatively easy to perform and the job given to a competent member of staff to do.
